Album Artwork
Each time I self-release a music album, I also handle the production of cover artwork. The bulk of my musical output is underscores for live theater or other media, so I'll either use imagery from the respective production or even illustrate my own. A throughline is that all of the artwork is representative of music's relationship with the piece it is supporting.
The Hobbit Vinyl Record
After completing production on sound design and original composition for a youth theater production of the Hobbit, I decided to get the music pressed onto a single vinyl record as a keepsake for such a special project. I mastered the audio for the format myself and also designed and illustrated the artwork, including record labels. Images below exhibit the artwork fitting into the guidelines provided by the company and the final product.

Weekly Grocery Store Newspaper Spread
During my employment as a junior graphic designer for PixelGrafix, the bulk of my work was handling a series of four page weekly newspaper ads for a local grocery store. I mostly worked within a long established template, but the sample above shows an example where I had the most creative input, adding in special graphics and color alterations for a "Halloween Special".
Bulletin Flyer for Auto Show
This is a flyer used to advertise an independently produced auto show in West Michigan exhibiting muscle cars, hot rods, dune trucks and all manner of other eclectic vehicles.
A passion project for the client, we took a "napkin sketch" they provided to communicate their vision and used our technical and artistic knowledge to amplify their voice and aesthetic taste. The dog logo was provided to use in a pencil on paper sketch and the car photos were provided from scanned glossy 4x6 prints, which were color corrected into an abrasive, but harmoniously "hot" color scheme.
The typography, background, fire graphics and wrench were provided by us to realize both the wild, propulsive spirit of the vehicles as well as the DIY culture that surrounds it.
Logo for Independent Book Publisher
This is a logo I recently "translated" from a mockup provided by the client into versatile vector graphic. The logo will represent an independent publishing company they will use to self publish their novels.
I mostly stayed true to the provided sample, but with their approval gave the lobster more appealing, cartoony features, brushstroke textures and a slightly nautical, "Coastal Maine Pub Sign" evocative typography.
The image below shows the graphic successfully printed onto a CustomInk sweater.
